"Emergence" reflects a shift and discovery in my artistic life. It has undergone two phases of evolution, symbolizing this change.
In an intuitive painting workshop with Stanka Kordic, I was finally called to "lay down my wings" - to abandon the safe familiarity of control, venture into the unknown, and accept imperfection and vulnerability. From this catalyst, "Emergence" was dramatically reworked from its first version of “finished.” Its rendered wings were revisited painted over, becoming something imperfect yet undeniably powerful. In this process, I surrendered myself to experimentation with automatic mark-making, oil sticks, and big brush movements creating unconscious marks and visceral textures across the 44” x 48” panel.
This painting chronicles my own artistic rebirth into chaotic vulnerability. I unleashed an authentic voice unafraid to exist in a precarious state of constant becoming. "Emergence" is an embodiment of the imperfect human who is always evolving, shedding old skins to unfurl new wings.
