About the Workshop
Flowers are fleeting. Oil paint allows us to slow down and truly observe them.
In this two-day studio workshop, we will work from live florals to explore how light moves across petals, how form turns in space, and how color relationships create atmosphere.
Rather than rushing toward a polished result, this workshop emphasizes thoughtful seeing, strong beginnings, and confident paint handling.
Ann will guide participants through:
Designing a compelling still life arrangement
Setting up simple, effective lighting for painting from life
Establishing value structure before chasing color
Mixing clean, intentional color relationships
Developing depth through edge control and temperature shifts
Knowing when to pause, adjust, or simplify
Students will work toward a resolved floral study over the weekend at their own pace. Individual progress will vary, and personalized feedback will be offered throughout.
Live flowers will be provided.
