Studio Letters: Queens Rising

Each month, Studio Letters brings you a signed 5 × 7 fine-art print and a personal letter from my studio, something beautiful and real to hold onto in a very digital world.

I’m beginning a new body of paintings called Queens Rising — a series about inner light, feminine power, transformation, and remembering the spiritual power we carry.

While the paintings unfold, I’m inviting you closer.

Studio Letters is a way to share the stories, discoveries, and quiet moments behind the work while it is still becoming.

A letter from the studio. A fragment of the painting. A little light in the mail.

A little art to look forward to in your mailbox.

Follow the work while it is still becoming.

Most paintings are only seen once they are finished.

But some of the most meaningful discoveries happen before that — in the underpainting, the color study, the crop, the fragment, the moment where something begins to reveal itself.

Queens Rising is unfolding through images of candlelight, moonlight, fire, water, forest, and spiritual power.

The story is still emerging, and Studio Letters is an invitation to follow it from inside the studio.

This series began with a flame.

The first Studio Letter features a fragment from Awakening Light, the first painting in the Queens Rising series.

While painting the candle, I discovered something that felt almost magical: firelight was not only gold. It held violets, reds, blues, greens — a full spectrum quietly living inside the glow.

That discovery became part of the heart of this work.

The candle began to feel like more than an object. It became a symbol of the spiritual power we can all return to — the inner light that may dim, but does not disappear.

Queens Rising is about remembering that light.

Your Studio Letters membership also helps support the creation of Queens Rising while this new body of work is being made.

The completed exhibition is intended to support the AUM Foundation through a portion of proceeds from the final show.

By joining, you are receiving something personal from the studio while also helping this work come into the world.
